چکیده
We report on the theoretical and numerical analysis of nonlinear Schrödinger equation describing dynamical evolution frequency-modulated (FM) optical signals propagating through fiber configuration comprising active fibers with anomalous dispersion nonuniformly distributed over length. In our consideration, a single section including segments initially increasing then decreasing is used for amplification compression an external FM pulse resulting in increase ~6 orders magnitude peak power 100-fold narrowing duration down to few picoseconds. Moreover, we demonstrate that, ~1 mW weakly modulated continuous wave input signal, two sections different profiles able generate strongly periodic train, repetition rate >100 GHz, ~0.5 ps, up kW. An governed by modulation instability both configurations explored.

Soliton Content of Fiber-Optic Light Pulses
This is a review of fiber-optic soliton propagation and of methods to determine the soliton content in a pulse, group of pulses or a similar structure. Of central importance is the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, an integrable equation that possesses soliton solutions, among others. Several extensions and generalizations of this equation are customary to better approximate real-world systems, b...
متن کاملEvolution of localization in frequency for modulated light pulses in a recirculating fiber loop.
We present an experimental demonstration of the evolution of localization in frequency of light pulses that are repeatedly kicked by phase modulation and then propagated along equally spaced lengths of fiber with weak dispersion. The experiment was performed with a long fiber recirculating loop that allows us to follow the pulse's spectral changes after each cycle.

abstract in written mode of language, metadiscourse markers are used commonly to help writers in general and academic writers in particular to produce coherent and professional texts. the purpose of the present study was to compare introduction sections of applied linguistics and physics articles regarding their use of interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers based on the model pro...

We use seven-core Yb-doped large-mode-area (LMA) photonic crystal fiber (PCF) to demonstrate phase-locked amplification of 0.7 W, 1 MHz, 1.9 ps laser pulses delivered by an LMA-PCF-laser-LMA-PCF-preamplifier system. Compression of the 24 W output of the multicore LMA-PCF amplifier with a grating compressor yields 110 fs pulses with a peak power up to 150 MW.

We demonstrate experimentally a mechanism of the soliton generation in nonlinear active metamaterials. Our meta-structure consists of a ring resonator formed by a microwave amplifier loaded with a left-handed transmission line. We demonstrate a variety of nonlinear effects not described by weakly nonlinear models, and study experimentally the system’s spatiotemporal dynamics, including the gene...
